If you live unmarried in a marital relationship (cohabitation), you can benefit your partner for survivors' benefits with TRANSPARENTA.
To do this, you must record your civil partnership in a written confirmation and report it to us. You can use the application for a partner (see below).
The beneficiary is thus treated as equal to a spouse, provided that the following additional conditions are met:
- The partner must have received significant support from the insured person for at least the last 5 years until their death; or
- have continued a marriage-like partnership with her with a common residence for at least the last 5 years until her death, as long as this was possible for health reasons; or
- pay for the support of one or more common children.
Benefit amount and entitlement for old-age pension recipients
The amount of the insured partner pension - and any additional death benefit - can be found on your pension certificate. The partner pension also applies to old-age pensions, provided that the regulatory requirements are not only met at the time of death, but were already at the pension recipient's 60th birthday, or the 5-year periods for significant support or joint residence have already begun before the 60th birthday.
In the event of an incident, TRANSPARENTA proactively contacts the registered partner, as the claim must be made within 4 months of the insured person's death. The surviving partner has the proof that the eligibility requirements have been met.
The full eligibility requirements can be found in regulations.
